My domain name is in the redemption period, how do I renew it?
Q: What domain types can enter redemption? ::
The redemption period is applicable to .COM / .NET / .ORG / .INFO / .BIZ and .US domains.
Q: What exactly is redemption? ::
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) requires that registrars such as ourselves provide a facility for domain name holders to redeem an expired name. The redemption period provides additional time to catch erroneous deletions before a domain name is made available to the public for re-registration.
:: How does this effect my domain registration? ::
We provide a 30 day grace period after the expiry of the domain during which it can be renewed at the normal rate, following this is the 30 day period of redemption. (The domain will be placed on 'Registrar Hold' and will thus be inactive from 15 days after expiry.)
During the redemption period the domain must be redeemed by filling out a Domain Redemption Form. There is a fee of $70 USD (add 10%+ GST if you are in Australia) that the governing registry charges to redeem the domain and provide one year's registration.
Following the redemption period is a 5 day deletion period after which the domain is deleted from the registry.
